Questions promoters and CFOs ask us.
Straight answers on how credit rating advisory works, what to expect, and how we protect your interests.
Getting started
Why work with a rating advisor instead of approaching a rating agency directly?
A rating reflects not just your numbers, but how clearly your business is understood. We know how each agency evaluates a company, prepare your financial narrative accordingly, and manage the entire interface, so your strengths are recognised and surprises are avoided.
Is the first conversation binding, and is it confidential?
No commitment is required for the first conversation, and every enquiry is treated as strictly confidential. We use it to understand your situation and outline the right approach, with no obligation either way.
How do engagements usually begin?
Most start with a short discovery conversation, followed by a review of where you are in the rating process. From there we propose a focused scope tailored to your objective, whether that is a first-time rating, an upgrade, surveillance, or a turnaround.
Outcomes and expectations
Can you guarantee a particular rating?
No, and any advisor who promises a specific rating should be treated with caution. Ratings are decided by the agencies. What we do is ensure your business is prepared thoroughly and represented accurately, so the assessment is based on a complete, fair picture.
We have never been rated before. Can you still help?
Yes. A significant share of our work is first-time ratings. We guide first-time issuers through every step, from documentation and positioning to the management discussion.
Our rating does not reflect our actual strength. What can be done?
Often the issue is perception, not performance. We diagnose where the gap lies, restructure the credit narrative, and represent your case to the agency. This work has reversed negative outlooks and supported multi-notch improvements, including turnarounds from default-grade to investment grade.
Working with us
Which rating agencies do you work with?
We have successfully handled assignments across all seven major rating agencies, and help you select the most suitable one for your sector and objective.
Will our financial information stay confidential?
Always. Your financials, strategies, and discussions remain strictly confidential. We are not a rating agency and have no conflicts of interest, so our advisory is independent and unbiased.
Do you only help at the time of the rating?
No. Through surveillance and annual reviews we stay engaged across cycles, preparing you for each review and flagging risks early, so a hard-won rating is protected over time.
Which industries do you work with?
We have advised clients across infrastructure, manufacturing, chemicals and pharma, consumer and agro, financial services, trade, and hospitality, among others. Our approach is tailored to each sector rather than templated.
